Infinity:
Yin Yang, is a convergence between the representation of Lini's limitless
artistic spirit and the exploration of materials, mediums, and techniques.
Lini's artwork is the crystallization of the experience of spiritualism and
secularism, from childhood to old age. Breaking down the walls of the
Panopticon, 'an institutional building with a strict control system' starting
from the family to the social environment is the main key in exploring the
depth of Lini's monumental works. After feeling shackled by social supervision
and control for so long, it's time to achieve freedom, rise to achieve the
authenticity of life, to work without limits. The metaphor of freedom and
awakening but still in control of the balance of life, is represented by Lini
through the dominance of winged objects, human figures, eyes, wild plants, with
golden nuances sprinkled with sparkling light. In truth, the function of art is
not to focus on beauty alone, but a reflection, a true contemplation in
exploring, interpreting and uncovering the veil of life.
Creative
artists always look for new things in their work and do not know the word
'end', they mutate from one form of creativity to another. Various periods of
work have been passed through, with their own characters and visual charms.
This Lini exhibition is very different from the works of "Lini Pelukis
Cilik Ajaib", the 1970s. The movement of time and experience has dynamized
the concept and technique of creating works. Lini is no longer satisfied with
painting with a brush on canvas, for him the adventure of creating works must
continue to roll and flow freely, no longer limited to two-dimensional fields
but breaking through conventional boundaries. The selection of aluminum and
stainless steel with various local techniques, namely the kênteng, kêthok,
pukul, Lipat, Embos, and paku techniques, with strokes, splashes and melted
paint, is part of the concept of "breaking through conventional methods"
in the rules of painting.
In
Lini's imagination, the aspect of fine art must be able to penetrate the frame,
flow organically, limitless expressive, borderless and even progressive,
forming chunks, niches, frames and endless aesthetic cavities, interconnected,
overlapping, intersecting, chasing as if without boundaries. The aesthetic
experience of "The art of cavity exploration" wrapped in splendor is
the right word to describe Lini's artistic spirit.
