What do you think of sculpture? What type of sculpture do you like? What do you think when someone talks about sculpture? There is one name that always related to sculpture for me, Nyoman Nuarta. His artworks that are Ku Yakin Sampai Disana Statue at Museum Nasional Indonesia, Arjuna Wijaya Statue in Thamrin Jakarta main road moreover his sculpture park in Bandung which is NuArt Sculpture Park also really impressed me.

Besides Nyoman Nuarta, I have also personally enjoyed one of the works of artist Yani Maryani Sastranegara at the exhibition of 100 Tahun Rayuan Basoeki Abdullah. Apart from the artworks of Nyoman Nuarta and Yani Maryani Sastranegara, the artworks of other artists are also very interesting to be appreciated. Wondering about the virtual sculpture exhibition at Andi's Gallery? At first what was interesting, I thought the statues with greenish color were the result of the color paint process, but it turns out that statues made of copper with a greenish color are a natural process when copper reacts with the surrounding air.

Although for me virtual exhibitions cannot replace offline exhibitions, this virtual exhibition is stunning enough for me with various sculptures from several Indonesian artists.

Permanent Exhibition     If we are talking about gallery, of course always there is National Gallery of Indonesia as my top of mind. There are permanent and temporary exhibition, which temporary exhibitions held packed with one full year schedule in here. Due to highly standard selection, it is always said really difficult to conduct the exhibition even to display the artwork. Based on data from the National Gallery of Indonesia website, the building which has a Dutch colonial architecture which was officially opened in 1999 has been used for a Special Dormitory for women. Temporary Exhibition Prince Diponegoro (1785–1855), Sang Ratu Adil or ‘Just King’, was the eldest son of the King of Java, Sultan Hamengku Buwono III (reigned 1812-1814). Since he was young, Diponegoro was close to the lives of commoners and the disciples of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). Starting from the prince’s anxiety regarding the condition of his environment, such as the disappearance of Javanese values and palace tradition due to the entry of European culture, Dutch interference in the internal affairs of the palace, tax collection that chokes people’s necks, until it reached its highest point when the Dutch planted stakes on the graves of Diponegoro’s ancestors in disdain for a road-building project, then the Java War broke out.   The Java War (1825-1830) witnessed how Diponegoro became a figure of war leader to be reckoned with.
